The Sony Playstation 3 is the first in the line of consoles to get HD purchases and rentals from all 6 of the major movie studios.
Sorry Xbox 360 fans, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is still missing Fox and Sony (obviously). Although most movie studios will more than likely show up on the 360, Sony’s HD appearance might be a while if ever!

As of 6:30 pm last night, the Playstation 3 Network is back up and running. Exactly what happened to bring down the whole system for over 24 hours? Via the Playstation blog, Patrick Seybold, the Director of Corporate Communication states:
“We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.”
With that said, it is now safe for any and all of the Playstation 3 models to access the Playstation Network…game on!
Many users have experienced an Error: 8001050Fand all that is known right now is it the PS3 network will not allow users to log into their accounts or play games online. Furthermore, if you have an older PS3 (Fat, not Slim), there is extra caution for you not sign on at this time.
Errors include:
* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
* When the user tries to sign-in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”.
* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game.”
* When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”
* Users are not able to playback certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.
Sony has acknowledged this problem and is hoping to have it resolve within the next 24 hours, so stay tuned!

We often recommend Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 as the antivirus protection software to put on our customers’ computers. We were excited to read online that Kaspersky Labs (a Russian based company) was awarded the patent for a hardware antivirus device that keeps computers secure by attaching directly to the disk drive.
What is this mystery device?
“An anti-virus (AV) system based on a hardware-implemented AV module for curing infected computer systems and a method for updating AV databases for effective curing of the computer system. The hardware-based AV system is located between a PC and a disk device. The hardware-based AV system can be implemented as a separate device or it can be integrated into a disk controller. An update method of the AV databases uses a two-phase approach. First, the updates are transferred from a trusted utility to an update sector of the AV system. Then, the updates are verified within the AV system and the AV databases are updated. The AV system has its own CPU and memory can be used in combination with AV application.” (PC Mag)
I think this sounds pretty cool and much more exciting than the current antivirus protection that is on the market.
Apple released a security update/patch yesterday for both the Apple iPhone and Apple iPod Touch. This update patches five security holes with the worst hole being that a hacker could take control of the unit remotely. One of the other holes had allowed hackers to access the data on your iPod or iPhone.
Plug your device into your computer and connect to iTunes and update!
