Facebook Apps and Private Data
At the Facebook F8 conference, their CEO (Mark Zuckerberg) told developers that the appellations they create for Facebook would no longer have to erase data collected after 24 hours. They applications can now keep it indefinitely.
The issue Facebook applications is not what an application you installed knows about you, but what an application your friend installs knows about you. Even if you have no applications, your friends certainly do and the companies get just about the same amount of your info that way. This is all writing in Facebook’s API.
Although Skynet Facebook is fun to use, how much privacy are you willing to give up? Here are instructions on how to 86 application data gathering:
Click on “Account” at the top-right of the screen. Click “Application Settings” Change the “Show” drop-down box to “Authorized.” This will show all the applications you’ve ever given permission to. In the resulting list, click the “X” button on the far right next to each app you want to remove to delete it. On the pop-up box that appears, click “Remove” then click “Okay” on the next box confirming the app was deleted.
